Best Refrigerator in Israel 2026: The Complete Buying Guide
Short answer: for most families in Israel the best refrigerator is 450–650 liters (about 16–23 cu ft), with a bottom freezer or 4 doors, No Frost, a certified Shabbat mode and official importer (yevuan rasmi) warranty. A sensible budget runs from about ₪3,000 (NIS) for a basic model to about ₪8,500 for a large 4-door fridge; above ₪9,000 you mostly pay for design, a door-in-door and extra capacity.
We did not lab-test refrigerators. This guide is built on official specs, prices we saw in Israeli stores in November 2026 and importer warranty terms. We start with what most people get wrong: the dimensions of the kitchen niche.
The short answer
Refrigerator, November 2026- 450–600 liters gross (about 16–21 cu ft)
- 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 cm
- ₪3,000–8,500
- No Frost (no ice)
- Built in, certified by a halachic institute
- About 250–460 kWh a year
- 1 year + compressor up to 10 years (official importer)

Haier HRF-4494FWR
4-door fridge, 472 liters gross, No Frost, inverter compressor, 79 cm wide, class E
Why: Per store prices it is one of the cheapest official-importer 4-door fridges, with No Frost and inverter. At 79 cm wide it fits niches where a 90 cm fridge will not.
Watch out: Net capacity is relatively small (268 liters fridge, 133 liters freezer), and the product page does not mention a Shabbat mode.
LG GR-B486IVSU
Top freezer, 438 liters, No Frost, Smart Inverter, 70 cm wide, class E
Why: Per store prices you get 438 liters with No Frost and an LG inverter compressor, with official importer warranty, at the price of a basic fridge.
Watch out: The product page does not mention a Shabbat mode; Shabbat observers should check with the importer before buying.
Samsung RB35C6225WH
Bottom freezer, 344 liters, 59.5 cm wide, zero-clearance (kav efes), No Frost, 254 kWh a year
Why: Per the store site it is a zero-clearance fridge that lines up with 70 cm deep cabinets, with a Shabbat mode certified by the Scientific-Technological Institute for Halacha and a 10-year compressor warranty.
Watch out: 344 liters is enough for 2–3 people; a large family will feel short of space with a 114-liter freezer.
Sharp SJ-9270-W
4-door fridge, 611 liters net (395 fridge / 216 freezer), 89 cm wide, 335 kWh a year
Why: Per store sites it has a built-in Shabbat device (SHARP Glatt) certified by Mishmeret HaShabbat, and large net capacity at a mid-range price. The official importer is Ralco.
Watch out: It needs a passage of at least 93 cm to get in, and its depth of about 77 cm sticks out past the countertop.
LG GR-728S
4-door fridge, 665 liters, Inverter Linear, No Frost, 91.4 cm wide, 460 kWh a year
Why: Per the product page it is a Shabbat-keeping model certified by a halachic institute, with 404 liters fridge and 261 liters freezer and 9 extra years of compressor warranty through Brimag Digital.
Watch out: Annual consumption (460 kWh) is higher than other 4-door fridges of similar size; the page has a mismatch between the finish and the model code, so confirm with the seller.

All Refrigerators in our database
Prices in Israel: Refrigerator
A couple or small family: top freezer or a simple 4-door fridge 70–80 cm wide; you give up glass finish, certified Shabbat mode and flexible compartments.
Most families: a 600-liter 4-door fridge or a quality bottom freezer, certified Shabbat mode and an inverter compressor with long warranty.
Large kitchen and large family: 640–850 liters, glass, door-in-door or a flex compartment; you pay a lot for design and little for better cooling.
Price ranges seen in Israeli shops and price-comparison sites in November 2026, VAT included, usually without installation.
What to look at before buying
| What to check | What it is | Our recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Width, height and depth | The first measurement that decides which fridges fit at all: niche width, height to the upper cabinet and depth relative to the countertop. | Measure the niche and leave 2–3 cm on each side and above. 60 cm niche = 2-door bottom freezer; 70 cm = large top freezer; 80 cm = narrow 4-door; 90 cm = full-size 4-door. |
| Capacity (liters) | Total capacity is split between the fridge and freezer compartments. Manufacturers list gross and net capacity, and the gap can reach dozens of liters. | 1–2 people: 250–350 liters. 3–4 people: 450–600 liters. 5+ people or big Shabbat cooking: 600–850 liters. Compare net to net (1 cu ft = 28.3 L). |
| Fridge type | Top freezer, 2-door bottom freezer, 4-door (French-door style with freezer drawers), side by side, or a built-in fridge that goes inside a cabinet. | A 4-door fridge suits families who buy lots of produce and use wide trays; a 60 cm bottom freezer suits small apartments; a top freezer gives the most liters per shekel. |
| Shabbat mode | A mode that disables the light, sensors, beeps and display so the door can be opened on Shabbat. Some models are certified by a halachic institute. | If you keep Shabbat, look for written certification on the product page, for example from the Scientific-Technological Institute for Halacha or Mishmeret HaShabbat, not just the words "Shabbat function". |
| No Frost and inverter compressor | No Frost prevents ice buildup in the freezer. An inverter compressor varies its speed instead of switching on and off, and is usually quieter and more efficient. | In 2026 there is no reason to buy a family fridge without No Frost. Inverter with a 9–10 year compressor warranty is the standard in the mid-range. |
| Power use and energy label | The Israeli label has moved to the new scale, so most fridges are now marked E even when efficient. The figure that matters is kWh per year. | Compare kWh per year between models of the same capacity: a 350-liter bottom freezer uses about 250 kWh; a 600–650 liter 4-door fridge uses about 335–460 kWh. |
| Official importer and warranty | The same model can be sold through the official importer or as a parallel import (yevu makbil), with a warranty certificate from a different service company. | Check the "official importer" line and the warranty provider's name on the product page. For a fridge, a home technician visit is worth more than saving a few hundred shekels. |
Which refrigerator is best to buy in 2026?
The best refrigerator is the one that fits your niche, gives 100–150 liters per person and comes with official importer warranty, not a single model that suits everyone.
Based on what we saw in Israeli stores in November 2026, the market splits into five main families:
- Top freezer: the most liters per shekel. A model like the LG GR-B486IVSU gives 438 liters at 70 cm wide for under ₪3,000.
- 2-door bottom freezer: 60 cm wide, suits small apartments and narrow kitchens. 340–460 liters.
- 4-door fridge: the popular choice for families in Israel (a French-door fridge with two freezer drawers). 470–850 liters at 79–91 cm wide. See our full 4-door refrigerator guide.
- Built-in fridge: goes inside a kitchen cabinet and gets a front panel from the carpenter. Smaller capacity at a higher price. Details in our built-in refrigerator guide.
- Small fridge: mini bar, office fridge or room fridge, 50–200 liters. See our small refrigerator guide.
If you need one answer: for an average family with a 90 cm niche, a 600–650 liter 4-door fridge with certified Shabbat mode and No Frost, for ₪7,000–9,000, is the safe choice. For a family with a 60 cm niche, a 344–460 liter bottom freezer. Anyone who needs more freezer space should pair the fridge with a separate freezer.
What not to pay much for: a door-in-door (kiosk), water and ice dispenser, Wi-Fi and a screen. Each adds hundreds to thousands of shekels, and a water dispenser also needs a tap connection and filter changes. A side-by-side fridge gives large capacity, but the shelves are narrower than a 4-door fridge and a Shabbat tray does not always fit. On the other hand, it is worth paying for: No Frost, an inverter compressor with long warranty, certified Shabbat mode if you need it, and a vegetable drawer with humidity control.
How to measure a fridge niche: 60, 70, 80 or 90 cm?
Measure the niche's width, height and depth, add 2–3 cm of ventilation space on each side and above, and also check the width of doors and passages on the way to the kitchen.
The most common mistake when buying a fridge in Israel is measuring only the niche. According to the product pages we read, a 4-door fridge like the Sharp SJ-9270 needs a passage of at least 93 cm to get into the home, and the Samsung RF70DB9125BK needs 62 cm only after removing the doors. In an older building with a narrow stairwell this can be decisive.
Quick fit table by width:
- 60 cm niche: bottom freezer 59.5–60 cm wide, like the Samsung RB35C6225 or LG R-2B394BINS. 340–460 liters.
- 70 cm niche: top freezer 70 cm wide, like the LG GR-B486IVSU. 400–450 liters.
- 80 cm niche: narrow 4-door fridge 78–79 cm wide, like the Haier HRF-4494F or Tadiran TADR431GB.
- 85–90 cm niche: wide top freezer (86 cm) or a 4-door fridge 89 cm wide.
- 92 cm niche and up: full-size 4-door fridge 91–91.4 cm wide from Samsung or LG.
Depth: a standard countertop is 60 cm deep, and most freestanding fridges are 65–78 cm deep including doors. A zero-clearance fridge (kav efes) is designed to line up with cabinets: per the store site, the Samsung RB35C6225 lines up with 70 cm deep units and its doors open to 90 degrees without hitting the adjacent cabinet. If you want a fridge that disappears completely inside the cabinet, that is a built-in fridge.
Height: check the distance to the upper cabinet. Family fridges are 178–187 cm high, and the fridge needs space above it to release heat.
Door direction: before choosing a model with a single top door, check which side it needs to open to so it does not block a passage or hit a wall. With a 4-door fridge the problem is smaller because the doors are narrow, but you need room to open at least 90 degrees to pull out the drawers. A fridge standing against a wall on one side needs extra space on the hinge side.
How many liters of fridge does a family need?
Count 100–150 liters per person, and add 100 liters if you cook for Shabbat or buy in bulk.
Practical recommendation by household size:
- 1–2 people: 250–350 liters (about 9–12 cu ft). A 60 cm bottom freezer or small top freezer.
- 3–4 people: 450–600 liters (about 16–21 cu ft). A 438-liter top freezer or a 470–611 liter 4-door fridge.
- 5–6 people: 600–700 liters. A full-size 4-door fridge.
- 7+ people: 750–850 liters, or a 600-liter fridge plus a separate freezer.
Watch the difference between gross and net. The Haier HRF-4494F is advertised as 472 liters gross, but per its spec net capacity is 268 liters fridge and 133 liters freezer. The Sharp SJ-9270 is advertised by net: 395 liters fridge and 216 liters freezer, 611 liters together. When comparing, compare net to net.
The split between fridge and freezer matters as much as total capacity. A family that keeps cooked food for a week needs a freezer of 200 liters and up; a family that buys fresh needs more fridge space. Some Samsung models have a flex compartment: per the product page, the RF72DG9620B1 goes from 414 to 546 liters of fridge space when you switch the flex compartment to fridge mode.
Cooking for Shabbat and holidays: a family that cooks on Friday for three meals needs room for pots and wide trays. Here a 4-door fridge 89–91 cm wide wins, because the top shelf is as wide as the whole fridge. In a 60 cm bottom freezer a 40 cm tray fits, but not two side by side. If you host a lot, consider a 600-liter fridge plus a separate freezer on the service balcony instead of one huge fridge.
Shabbat mode in a fridge: what to check before buying
A fridge for Shabbat observers needs a built-in Shabbat mode that disables the light, sensors, door-triggered fan and beeps, ideally with written certification from a halachic institute.
The product pages we read show three different levels:
- Named institute certification: the LG R-2B394BINS and LG GR-930BDIS are presented as Shabbat-keeping mehadrin, certified by the Scientific-Technological Institute for Halacha. The Samsung RB35C6225 is shown with a Shabbat mode certified by the same institute. The Sharp SJ-9270 is shown with the SHARP Glatt device certified by Mishmeret HaShabbat.
- Shabbat function without a named institute: the Tadiran TADR431GB and Samsung RF70DB9125BK state a Shabbat mode, but the product page does not name a certifying body.
- No Shabbat mode: the Sharp SJ-9260-WH page shows no Shabbat mode at all, even though it looks almost identical to models that have one.
How it works in practice: on most models you activate the mode by long-pressing two buttons, for example for 5–6 seconds. Per the Siemens Israel site, on the KB96NADD0 the mode returns automatically to normal after 80 hours, so it also covers a holiday next to Shabbat. On Sharp, per the product page, the device works for 40 to 80 hours.
Recommendation: do not rely on the word "Shabbat" in the title. Ask the seller or importer for the certificate for the exact model, including color and finish, because a model code that differs by one letter can be a different product.
What else matters for Shabbat observers: check whether the No Frost fan keeps running at a constant rate when the door opens, whether there is a water or ice dispenser that needs to be disabled, and whether the display turns off completely in Shabbat mode. With a door-in-door or touch screen these questions get more complicated, which is why some importers market separate mehadrin versions of the same model. If you buy a used fridge or a parallel import, the Shabbat mode may not have been set up for the Israeli market, so check before buying.
Power use and energy labels: how to compare fridges
Compare annual consumption in kWh, not the letter on the energy label, because on the new scale almost every family fridge is marked E.
Israeli stores now show two scales: some sellers list the rating under the new standard and some still show the old rating. On the comparison page for the Sharp SJ-4660, for example, it says new E, old A. In other words, a fridge that was A+ a few years ago is E today, with no change in consumption.
Annual figures we found on product pages:
- Samsung RB35C6225WH, 344-liter bottom freezer: 254 kWh.
- LG R-2B394BINS, 349-liter bottom freezer: 249 kWh.
- Sharp SJ-GTR820G-BK, 604-liter top freezer: 310 kWh.
- Sharp SJ-9270, 611-liter 4-door: 335 kWh.
- Samsung RF70DB9125BK, 636-liter 4-door: 350 kWh.
- LG GR-930BDIS, 842-liter 4-door: 420 kWh.
- LG GR-728, 665-liter 4-door: 460 kWh.
The takeaway: a large top freezer uses less than a 4-door fridge of the same capacity, and the gap between two similar 4-door fridges can reach 100 kWh or more a year. A fridge runs 24 hours a day for 10–15 years, so the difference adds up. An inverter compressor helps, but on its own it does not guarantee low consumption.
How to cut consumption without buying a new fridge: do not place the fridge right next to the oven or in direct sun from a window, leave ventilation space behind and above, and check that the door seals close tightly. The standard temperature is about 4°C in the fridge and -18°C in the freezer; a colder setting only raises consumption. A partly full fridge holds cold better than an empty one, but an overpacked fridge blocks airflow in a No Frost system.
Official importer or parallel import: what it means for warranty
Buy a fridge marked "official importer" and check which company provides the warranty, because with a fridge a fault means a technician at home within days, not shipping to a lab.
According to the product pages we read, these are the service providers for the major brands:
- Sharp: Ralco is the official importer. Per store sites, you can extend the compressor warranty by 9 more years for ₪149, provided you open a service call and schedule a technician within 14 days of purchase.
- LG: Brimag is the official importer; product pages show a one-year Brimag Digital warranty, and on some models 9 extra years on the compressor.
- Samsung: the official fridge warranty is provided through Newpro of the Newpan group, with 10 years on the inverter compressor on models like the RB35C6225 and RF70DB9125BK.
- Bosch and Siemens: BSH Israel.
Parallel import exists for fridges too. An example from a product page: the Samsung RF72DG9620B1 is sold in one store marked "official importer: no", with a one-year warranty from a company called Sam Line. That is not necessarily bad, but you should know who comes to repair it, whether spare parts exist and whether the model was adapted for the Israeli market, including Shabbat mode.
Tip: compressor warranty does not cover the whole fridge. On most certificates one year covers everything, and the extra years cover only the compressor.
How to check on the product page: most large stores have an "official importer" line with yes or no, and a warranty line naming the company. If it only says "one-year warranty" without a name, ask before paying. If the price is a few hundred shekels lower than every other store, that is often the sign of a parallel import.
Price comparison: the same fridge can differ by thousands of shekels between stores. On the comparison page for the Samsung RF60C7012SL we saw a range of about ₪5,900 to ₪8,500 across dozens of stores. Before closing, compare the full model code, including the color letters at the end, and check that the price includes delivery, bringing it into the kitchen and removing the old fridge.
Delivery, installation and what to check on arrival day
Schedule delivery only after measuring every passage, and let the fridge stand for a few hours before plugging it in.
Delivery times we saw in stores are 3–10 business days, and delivery is usually included for large fridges. Before arrival day:
- Measure the front door, elevators, stair turns and the kitchen door. If doors need to be removed, ask in advance whether the movers do it.
- Make sure there is a dedicated grounded outlet behind the fridge, without a power strip. (Israel uses 230V/50Hz; a US 110V fridge would need a transformer.)
- For a fridge with a water dispenser or door-in-door, check whether it needs a water tap connection and who installs it.
- If the door needs to open on the other side, ask whether reversing it is included or extra. On the Siemens KI86FPDD0 page, for example, door reversal is listed as a paid service.
On arrival day: check for scratches and dents before signing, and keep the invoice and warranty certificate. If there is a compressor warranty extension that requires registration, as with Sharp, do it on time.

Common issues in the first weeks: a soft flowing sound or light clicks is normal in inverter and No Frost fridges. Water at the bottom of the fridge compartment usually means a clogged drain hole at the back. Ice on the walls of a No Frost fridge usually means a door that does not close fully or a damaged seal. A loud constant noise, a fridge that does not reach temperature after a day, or a burning smell justify a call to the importer's service, within the warranty period and not after it.
The bottom line
Capacity for a family of 4: 450–600 liters gross (about 16–21 cu ft). Common widths: 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 cm.

FAQ: best refrigerator in Israel
How much does a good refrigerator cost in Israel in 2026?
Per store prices in November 2026, a good basic fridge costs about ₪2,700–3,500, a 4-door fridge or quality bottom freezer about ₪4,900–8,500, and premium models with glass or a door-in-door ₪9,000–14,000. Most families do well in the mid-range.
Which is better, a 4-door fridge or a top freezer?
A top freezer gives more liters per shekel and usually uses less electricity. A 4-door fridge is more convenient: freezer drawers at working height, wide shelves for trays and more capacity. If your budget is limited and you have a 70 cm niche, a top freezer is a sensible choice.
Which refrigerator is best for Shabbat observers?
Look for a fridge whose product page says it is certified by a named halachic institute, for example the Scientific-Technological Institute for Halacha or Mishmeret HaShabbat. Examples from product pages: LG R-2B394BINS, Samsung RB35C6225 and Sharp SJ-9270. Ask for the certificate for the exact model.
What is a zero-clearance (kav efes) fridge?
A fridge designed to stand in line with the kitchen cabinets, with doors that open without hitting the adjacent cabinet. Per the store site, the Samsung RB35C6225 lines up with 70 cm deep units and its doors open to 90 degrees. It is still a freestanding fridge, not a built-in one.
How long does a refrigerator last?
A family fridge usually lasts 10–15 years. That is also why importers give a 9–10 year compressor warranty, and on some Samsung built-in fridges even 20 years on the compressor per the product page.
Should I buy a parallel-import refrigerator?
You can save, but check who gives the warranty and who sends a technician. On a product page we saw, a parallel-import Samsung fridge came with a one-year warranty from another company, not the official importer. With a fridge, fast home service matters more than a small saving.
Why are all fridges marked E on the energy label?
Because Israel moved to the new scale, with stricter requirements. A fridge that was A or A+ on the old scale is marked D or E today. Compare annual consumption in kWh, not the letter.
Do I need No Frost?
Yes, in a family fridge. No Frost prevents ice buildup and saves manual defrosting. Small fridges and cheap freezers still have semi-automatic defrost, which is one of the things that makes them cheaper.
How long should I wait before plugging in a new fridge?
The common recommendation is to let the fridge stand for a few hours before plugging it in, longer if it was transported lying down. Check the exact instruction in your model's manual.
What is the difference between gross and net capacity?
Gross is the total internal volume; net is what remains after shelves, drawers and the cooling system. The gap can reach dozens of liters, so compare net to net.
