Freestanding Ranges: The Israeli Buying Guide
Short answer: a good freestanding range (tanur meshulav) for an Israeli home is a 60 cm standalone appliance with a 60–65 liter electric oven, 4 gas burners with a flame failure sensor on each burner, and, if you keep Shabbat, a Shabbat program certified by a halachic institute. In Israeli stores a basic model costs about ₪1,200–1,800 (NIS), a mid-range model about ₪1,700–2,600, and premium and wide models reach ₪4,300–8,000.
This guide is based on product pages and price comparisons in Israeli stores in November 2026. We did not test the ovens physically: we compare specs, warranty and features that matter in an Israeli kitchen, like Shabbat mode, gas safety and kitchen space.
The short answer

What to look at before buying
| What to check | What it is | Our recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Width | Most freestanding ranges are 60 cm wide. There are also wide 90 cm models and narrow 50–55 cm models. | Measure the opening between the cabinets. 60 cm fits most kitchens; 90 cm suits only if you have the space and cook for large groups. |
| Oven capacity | The capacity in liters of the oven itself. In a freestanding range it is slightly lower than in a built-in oven. | 60–65 liters is enough for a family of 4–5. 74 liters and up for anyone who bakes a lot at once or cooks for Shabbat guests. |
| Burners and power | The number of burners and the power of the strong burner, which decides how fast you boil a large pot or stir-fry in a wok. | Look for at least one burner of 3–3.5 kW. Per the spec, the Electrolux LKK620200X has a 3 kW burner and the Fujicom FJFSC75BK a 3.5 kW wok burner. |
| Flame failure sensor | A mechanism that shuts off the gas if the flame went out, for example from wind or a pot boiling over. | Make sure the spec says safety sensor on all burners, not just one. This is the most important item in a home with children. |
| Shabbat mode | A program that lets you leave the oven on during Shabbat per a halachic institute's guidelines. | If it matters to you, choose a model whose product page states an institute's approval, like the Sauter Elegant 4780, and ask for the written approval for the model. |
| Programs and heating | Convection, grill, top-bottom heat, and sometimes steam baking or Air Fry. | Convection and grill are a must. Steam and Air Fry are a bonus that usually adds a few hundred shekels to the price. |
| Warranty and importer | An official importer provides a technician, spare parts and at least a one-year warranty. | Check that the product page says official importer. For Midea, per one store, the importer is Hamilton and a two-year extension is offered for ₪199. |
What is a freestanding range and who is it for?
A freestanding range is a single standalone appliance that combines an oven below and a cooktop on top, and it mainly suits anyone not building a new kitchen: renters, an existing kitchen with a 60 cm opening, or anyone who wants to save on carpentry.
In stores and searches you see several names for the same appliance: tanur meshulav kirayim (range with cooktop), tanur meshulav gaz (gas range) and tanur omed (freestanding oven). On most models in Israel the cooktop is gas and the oven itself is electric. Per the Electrolux LKK620200X spec, for example, the oven is heated by electric elements (1,650 watts at the bottom and 1,650 watts for the grill), and the cooktop runs on gas. In other words, you need both a gas connection and an electrical outlet.
The difference from a built-in oven: a built-in oven is installed inside a cabinet and needs an exact niche, and usually a separate cooktop goes above it, gas or induction. A freestanding range simply slides into the opening between the cabinets, at counter height, and gets connected. No carpenter, no cutting the countertop, and if you move you take it with you.
Who it suits:
- Renters who do not want to, or cannot, change the kitchen.
- An existing kitchen with a 60 cm opening where a freestanding range already stood.
- Anyone who prefers cooking on gas and does not want to switch to an electric cooktop.
- A limited budget: a basic freestanding range costs less than a built-in oven plus a separate cooktop, and installation is simpler.
Who it suits less: anyone planning a new kitchen with an eye-level oven column, anyone who wants an induction cooktop, or anyone looking for a pyrolytic oven. Pyrolytic cleaning is rare in freestanding ranges, and on the models we checked we did not see it at all. If you are at the kitchen planning stage, read our built-in oven guide first and compare.
How long does a freestanding range last? There is no uniform official figure, so we will not make up a number. What is known is which parts wear: the door seal, the cavity light, the convection fan, and on the cooktop the igniters and flame sensors. All are parts the official importer should supply. That is a good reason to choose a brand sold in many stores with service in Israel, like the models on the list below, each of which appeared on the comparison page in 10 stores or more. Before buying a lesser-known brand, ask who repairs it and how soon a technician arrives.
How much does a freestanding range cost in Israel?
A freestanding range costs about ₪1,200–3,000 in Israel for most 60 cm models; large Italian models and 90 cm models start at about ₪4,300 and reach ₪8,000.
What we saw on price comparison pages in November 2026:
- Midea 24DMS4G113 (65 liters): about ₪1,170–2,070.
- Fujicom FJFSC75BK (60 liters, wok burner): about ₪1,250–1,790.
- Beko FSE62120DXDSL (65 liters): about ₪1,500–2,000.
- Electrolux LKK620200X (62 liters): about ₪1,670–2,900.
- Sauter Elegant 4780 (65.5 liters, Shabbat program): about ₪1,730–2,590.
- Electrolux LKK660224K (58 liters, steam and Air Fry): about ₪2,170–2,990.
- Sauter Rustic 7020 (about 65 liters, rustic design): about ₪2,340–3,190.
- De'Longhi PRO 66 MXL PZ (74 liters): about ₪4,290–5,490.
- De'Longhi DEMA965 (90 cm, 83 liters, 5 burners): about ₪5,660–8,040.
Watch the gap between stores: on the Electrolux LKK620200X we saw a difference of more than ₪1,200 on the same model. Before ordering, compare the final price including shipping, carrying up to your floor and removing the old oven.
What is not included in the price? The gas connection. Per an installation guide on a trade website, installation is usually not included in the cooktop price, and extra work like adapting the piping or installing safety valves can make it more expensive. Ask for a detailed quote in advance.
Where is it worth paying more? For a flame failure sensor on all burners, for a certified Shabbat mode if you need one, and for an official importer (yevuan rasmi). Steam, Air Fry and 10 programs instead of 6 are nice, but most families mainly use convection and the grill.
Gas range: safety, burners and installation
On most freestanding ranges in Israel the cooktop runs on gas, so the connection must be done by a licensed gas technician, and it is worth choosing a model with a flame failure sensor on all burners.
Flame failure sensor: a mechanism that shuts off the gas flow if the flame went out, for example when a pot boils over or there is a breeze from the window. The listings for the Sauter Elegant 4780, Sauter Rustic 7020 and Fujicom FJFSC75BK explicitly say there are safety sensors on all burners that shut off the gas when the flame goes out. The Electrolux LKK620200X lists automatic gas shut-off. On models where the page does not say, ask the seller.
Burners: almost every 60 cm freestanding range comes with 4 burners of different sizes. What matters is the strong burner. For Shabbat cooking, large pots and a wok, look for a burner of 3 kW or more. On 90 cm models, like the De'Longhi DEMA965, there are 5 burners.
Ignition: most models have electric ignition built into the knobs: push and turn. That means the range needs an electrical outlet for the cooktop too, not just for the oven.
Installation: per a guide on a tradespeople website, gas cooktop installation must be done by a licensed gas technician with a valid license, and the appliance must meet Israeli Standard SI 907. The technician will check the flexible hose, the shut-off valve and the seal. Do not connect it yourself, even if it looks like just screwing something on.
Electricity: the electric oven inside the Electrolux LKK620200X draws up to about 2.7 kW per the spec. A regular 16 A outlet is usually enough, but it is better not to share it with a dishwasher, kettle or microwave.
For anyone torn between gas and electric: we cover the differences, including costs and safety, in our gas oven guide, and the electrical requirements for induction in our induction cooktop guide.
Central gas or cylinders? New buildings usually have central gas through piping, and older or private homes sometimes use cylinders. For the range this usually makes no difference, but the technician needs to know in advance which type of gas they are connecting, to make sure the burners are set correctly. If you move with the range, ask the technician in the new apartment to recheck the connection and not just screw on the old hose.
Warning signs: a gas smell, a yellow flame instead of blue, or a burner that lights and goes out. In such cases close the gas valve, open a window, do not turn on electrical switches, and call a technician.
Shabbat mode on a freestanding range
Some freestanding ranges in Israel come with a certified Shabbat program, but most product pages do not mention it, so you must check for a written approval for the specific model.
What we found on product pages:
- Sauter Elegant 4780: per listings from several stores, it has a Shabbat program approved by the Scientific-Technological Institute for Halacha, and one listing says the approval comes from the importer.
- Fujicom FJFSC75BK: one listing mentions a Shabbat mechanism, but with no name of a certifying institute. That is not enough to rely on.
- Electrolux, Midea, Beko and De'Longhi: on the pages we checked, Shabbat mode is not mentioned.
What to check before buying:
- The name of the institute that approved it (for example the Scientific-Technological Institute for Halacha or Machon Tzomet).
- That the approval is for the model code you are buying, including the color suffix.
- That the approval is valid.
- What exactly is allowed in Shabbat mode: opening the door, the light, changing the temperature.
What about the cooktop on Shabbat? Shabbat mode applies to the electric oven. Using the gas cooktop on Shabbat, for example leaving a small flame under a hot plate (blech), should be clarified with a rabbi. We do not rule on halacha.
Parallel import: a halachic approval is usually given for the official importer's version. If the range came through parallel import (yevu makbil), the software may differ and the approval may not apply. For a Shabbat oven, buy from the official importer.
Built-in ovens have more models with a certified Shabbat mode, and we cover them in our built-in oven guide.
Capacity, programs and cleaning: what really matters?
In a freestanding range the three things that really matter are the cavity's capacity, true convection with a fan and heating element, and a door that is easy to take apart for cleaning.
Capacity: on the models we checked, capacity ranges from 58 to 74 liters at 60 cm wide. 60–65 liters is enough for one large tray or two trays with convection. If you bake challot and cakes for Shabbat in quantity, 74 liters, as on the De'Longhi PRO 66, gives more room, but at twice the price.
Programs: convection (a fan with a round heating element) is the basis for baking on several racks. Grill for roasting and browning. Top-bottom heat for cakes. Beyond that:
- Steam baking (SteamBake): on the Electrolux LKK660224K. Improves the crust of bread and pastries.
- Air Fry: on the same model, with a dedicated tray. In some cases it replaces an air fryer.
- Pizza: on the De'Longhi PRO 66, per one listing, there is a pizza program at 300°C.
Cleaning: we did not see pyrolytic cleaning on freestanding ranges. What there is:
- Aqua Cleaning: on the Electrolux LKK660224K, a steam-assisted clean at 90°C that softens grease before wiping.
- SteamShine: in one listing for the Beko FSE62120DXDSL.
- A glass door that comes apart: on Sauter and Beko, to clean between the glass panes.
- Easy-clean enamel: on De'Longhi.
If self-cleaning especially matters to you, go to our pyrolytic oven guide. There you will find the difference between pyrolytic, catalytic and steam cleaning.
Bottom drawer: most freestanding ranges have a storage drawer for trays. It is not heated, and is not suitable for keeping food warm.
Routine maintenance: wipe the cooktop after each use, while the dirt is fresh. Once a week take off the burner caps and pan supports and clean them, and check that the burner holes are not clogged with residue. An uneven flame is usually a sign of a clogged hole, not a fault. In the oven cavity, clean grease spots while the oven is still warm, and avoid abrasive cleaners on the enamel and glass. The door seal wears over the years: if you feel heat escaping around the door, ask the importer for a replacement seal by model code.
Freestanding range or built-in oven with a separate cooktop?
If you are not renovating the kitchen, a freestanding range is cheaper and simpler; if you are building a new kitchen, a built-in oven with a separate cooktop gives more flexibility, pyrolytic cleaning and the option of induction.
Sample cost comparison: an Electrolux freestanding range costs about ₪1,670–2,900. A basic built-in oven costs about ₪1,750–2,300, plus a separate cooktop, countertop cutting and carpentry work. The total difference can reach thousands of shekels.
Advantages of a freestanding range:
- Lower price and simple installation.
- You can take it with you when you move.
- Cooking on gas, which many in Israel still prefer.
Disadvantages:
- You have to bend down to the oven, because it is always low.
- A narrower choice of programs and features. Pyrolytic cleaning barely exists.
- On most models in Israel there is no induction cooktop option.
- Gaps between the range and the cabinets where dirt builds up.
What about a combination microwave oven? That is a completely different product: a built-in oven about 45 cm high that combines a microwave and regular heating, installed in a column. If you are looking for a microwave, see our best microwave guide.
A freestanding range with induction? On the comparison page we saw a category of ranges with induction cooktops, but none were among the common models. If you want induction, the practical solution is a built-in oven with a separate cooktop above it, and checking the apartment's electrical supply.
What about a small kitchen? Small apartments sometimes have an opening of only 50–55 cm. The comparison page lists narrow freestanding ranges, some with electric cooktops rather than gas. They suit a studio apartment or a yechidat diyur (small rental unit), but their cavity is smaller, so before giving up 60 cm, check whether you can move a cabinet. In a small kitchen it is also worth thinking about a dishwasher: a slim 45 cm dishwasher next to the range saves a lot of sink time, even in a couple's apartment.
How to choose a freestanding range in 5 steps
The fast way to choose a freestanding range is to measure the opening, filter by safety and Shabbat mode, and only then compare capacity, programs and final price.
- Step 1, dimensions: measure width, depth and height to the countertop. Most models are 60 cm wide, about 85 cm high and about 60 cm deep, like the Sauter Elegant 4780. Leave room for opening the door and for the gas hose at the back.
- Step 2, safety: filter only for models whose spec says flame failure sensor on all burners.
- Step 3, Shabbat mode: if you need it, keep only models with a halachic institute's approval, like the Sauter Elegant 4780.
- Step 4, capacity and programs: 60–65 liters with convection and grill for most families; 74 liters and up for anyone who bakes a lot.
- Step 5, price and warranty: compare the final price at several stores, and make sure the seller is an official importer or its authorized dealer.
Examples by profile:
- Shabbat observers: Sauter Elegant 4780.
- Low budget or a rental: Midea 24DMS4G113 or Beko FSE62120DXDSL.
- A reliable range at a mid-range price: Electrolux LKK620200X.
- Steam and Air Fry: Electrolux LKK660224K.
- You cook a lot and have the space: De'Longhi DEMA965 at 90 cm.
After installation, ask the technician to check for leaks and show you where the shut-off valve is. If you are also replacing the dishwasher at the same time, go through our best dishwasher guide, and for anyone short on space in a small kitchen there is also our small dishwasher guide.
The bottom line
Standard width: 60 cm (wide: 90 cm). Typical height: about 85 cm, counter height.

FAQ: freestanding range Israel
What is a freestanding range?
A standalone oven that combines an oven cavity below and a cooktop on top, usually 60 cm wide and at counter height. On most models in Israel the cooktop is gas and the oven is electric, so you need both a gas connection and an electrical outlet.
How much does a freestanding range with a cooktop cost?
Per store prices in November 2026, a basic model costs about ₪1,170–1,800, a mid-range model about ₪1,700–3,000, and Italian or 90 cm models about ₪4,300–8,000. Gas installation is usually not included.
Which freestanding range is recommended in 2026?
There is no one model for everyone. For Shabbat observers, the Sauter Elegant 4780, with approval from the Scientific-Technological Institute for Halacha per store listings. For a mid-range price, the Electrolux LKK620200X. For a low budget, the Midea 24DMS4G113.
Is there a freestanding range with a Shabbat mode?
Yes. The Sauter Elegant 4780 lists a Shabbat program approved by the Scientific-Technological Institute for Halacha. On most other models we checked, Shabbat mode is not mentioned, so ask for a written approval for the model.
Who installs a gas freestanding range?
A licensed gas technician with a valid license. They connect the cooktop to the gas line, check for leaks and make sure the appliance meets the standard. Do not connect the gas yourself.
Does the oven in a freestanding range run on gas?
On most models in Israel, no: the cooktop is gas and the oven is electric. Per the Electrolux LKK620200X spec, for example, the oven is heated by electric elements. Ovens with a gas-heated cavity are rare.
Freestanding range or built-in oven?
A freestanding range is cheaper and simpler to install and suits an existing kitchen or a rental. A built-in oven suits a new kitchen, and allows an eye-level column, an induction cooktop and pyrolytic cleaning.
How wide is a freestanding range?
Most models are 60 cm wide. There are wide 90 cm models, like the De'Longhi DEMA965, and narrow 50–55 cm models. Height is usually about 85 cm, counter height.
Is there a freestanding range with an induction cooktop?
There is such a category on price comparison sites, but we did not find one among the common models. If you want induction, the common solution is a built-in oven with a separate cooktop.
How many liters do you need in a freestanding range?
60–65 liters is enough for most families. Anyone who bakes a lot for Shabbat or hosts will enjoy 74 liters and up, but such models usually cost more than ₪4,000.
