Countertop Dishwasher in Israel: The Complete Guide to Tabletop Models
The short answer: a countertop dishwasher (compact or tabletop) is a box about 55 cm (21.7 in) wide that holds 6–8 place settings, connects to the kitchen tap through a diverter and drains into the sink, without touching the cabinets. In Israel a 6-place-setting model costs about ₪1,000–1,750 (NIS), an 8-place-setting model about ₪1,640–2,290, and a 3-place-setting mini dishwasher with a built-in water tank about ₪1,180–1,850. It’s especially suited to renters, couples and anyone without a free cabinet.
This guide is based on product pages and price comparisons at Israeli stores in November 2026. We did not physically test the dishwashers. If you have 45 cm (18 in) free under the counter, also read our slim dishwasher guide.

What to look at before buying
| What to check | What it is | Our recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Place settings | 6 place settings suit a couple for one day; 8 also fit a small pot and a frying pan; 3 suit one person. | For a couple who cooks at home, 8 place settings. For one person or an office, 3–6. If you’re 3 or more people, consider a slim dishwasher under the counter. |
| Dimensions | Most countertop dishwashers are 55 cm wide. Height and depth vary between models. | The De’Longhi WMD10T is 55×50×43.8 cm per the page. Measure the height under the upper cabinet and leave a few cm for ventilation and steam. |
| Water hookup | Most models connect to the tap through a diverter. Mini models also work with a built-in water tank. | In an apartment without a suitable tap or in an office, choose a tank model like the Midea MDWMT030S. Otherwise, make sure a diverter can be fitted to the tap. |
| Noise | The dishwasher sits at counter height, closer to your ears than a regular dishwasher. | 47–49 dB is common. Run it when you’re not in the kitchen, and not next to an open bedroom. |
| Water use | Liters per cycle per the specs. | 6.5 liters on the 6-place-setting Midea and 8 liters on the 8-place-setting Candy. That’s less than washing by hand in most cases. |
| Water softener and salt | In areas with hard water you need a softener. Not every tabletop dishwasher has a salt compartment. | Per one listing, the De’Longhi WMD10T has a built-in water softener. If there isn’t one, use tablets with softener and rinse aid. |
| Importer and warranty | Even a small dishwasher has a pump, a heating element and an electronic board. | Per the listings: Midea through Hamilton, Electrolux through Mini Line. For models where the importer isn’t stated, ask for it in writing. |
Who is a countertop dishwasher for?
A countertop dishwasher suits anyone without a free cabinet, renters who can’t change the kitchen, couples and singles, and small offices.
In stores and searches it appears under several names: countertop dishwasher, tabletop dishwasher, compact dishwasher and small countertop dishwasher. On the price comparison page the category is called compact, and it lists about 13 models, mostly from Midea, Electrolux, Candy and De’Longhi.
Advantages:
- No renovation: no need to remove a cabinet, cut the countertop or hire a carpenter.
- Portable: when you move, unplug it and take it with you.
- Price: a 6-place-setting model starts at about ₪1,000.
- Self-installation: in most cases a tap diverter and a drain hose to the sink are enough.
Disadvantages:
- Takes counter space: about 55 cm wide, about half a meter of work surface.
- Small capacity: 6–8 place settings. Large pots and baking trays won’t fit.
- Noise close to your ears: 47–49 dB at counter height is clearly audible.
- Energy: the common rating is D–F.
The decision in one line: if you can free up 45 cm under the counter, a slim dishwasher gives 9–10 place settings and leaves the counter free. If you can’t, a countertop dishwasher is the right solution. In our small dishwasher guide we compared all three options: slim, countertop and mini.
A common use in kosher homes: a tabletop dishwasher as a second dishwasher for dairy (chalavi), alongside a full-size one for meat (basari). In that case, 6–8 place settings are usually enough for a family’s dairy dishes, and there’s no need to change the cabinets. If you’re planning this, make sure there’s counter space next to the sink and an extra outlet.
Who else buys a tabletop dishwasher:
- Students and studio units (yechidot diyur): a small kitchenette without a 45 cm cabinet.
- Offices: for a small team’s cups and plates, usually with a 3–6 place-setting mini dishwasher.
- Older people who find bending hard: a dishwasher at counter height is easier to load and unload than one under the counter.
- Renovating in stages: a temporary solution until the new kitchen is ready, after which you move it to the office or another room.
Dimensions: how much counter space do you need?
A countertop dishwasher needs about 55 cm of width, about 44–50 cm of depth and about 44–60 cm of height, depending on the model, plus clearance for ventilation and opening the door.
What we saw in the specs:
- De’Longhi WMD10T: per the page, 55×50×43.8 cm. The page doesn’t say which measurement is which, so confirm the height and depth with the seller.
- Electrolux EFC3862MS and Candy CP8F9FFW: 55 cm wide per the listings. In our small dishwasher guide we listed the full dimensions of the EFC3862MS.
- 6-place-setting Midea: dimensions don’t appear on the comparison page. Ask for them before ordering.
How to measure correctly:
- Free height: from the countertop to the bottom of the upper cabinet. Add a few centimeters above the dishwasher’s height for ventilation, plus more space if you want to open the top lid to add salt or clean.
- Depth: from the backsplash to the countertop edge. A standard countertop is about 60 cm deep, so most countertop dishwashers fit, but you need room for the hoses at the back.
- Door opening: the door opens forward and down. Make sure it doesn’t catch on the countertop edge or a lower cabinet’s handle.
- Distance from the sink: the inlet hose and drain hose must reach the tap and sink. Closer is simpler.
Steam and heat: at the end of the program, when the door opens, hot steam comes out. If the dishwasher is right under a wooden upper cabinet, the steam can damage it over time. On models with automatic door opening, like the Electrolux EFC3862MS and Midea MDWT0602M, note which way the steam goes.
Weight: a tabletop dishwasher full of water and dishes is heavy. Place it on a stable, flat surface, not on a pull-out shelf or a cart.
Tap hookup, drainage and water tank
Most countertop dishwashers connect to the kitchen tap through a diverter and drain into the sink, so you can install them yourself; 3-place-setting mini models also work with a built-in water tank, without a tap connection.
Tap hookup: remove the aerator from the kitchen tap and fit a diverter with an outlet for the dishwasher hose in its place. When the dishwasher runs, open the tap or turn the diverter. Most tabletop dishwashers run on cold water only and heat it themselves. Check that your tap can take a diverter: some modern taps, with a pull-out head or special aerator, need an adapter.
Drainage: the drain hose sits in the sink or connects to the trap. If it’s in the sink, make sure it’s secured and won’t jump out while pumping. Don’t leave dishes in the sink blocking the drain.
Built-in water tank: on the Midea MDWMT030S, per the listings, it can run from an external tap or from a built-in tank. You fill the tank by hand before each cycle. It’s a solution for an office, a caravan, a studio unit without a suitable tap, or anyone who doesn’t want to touch the tap in a rental. In our small dishwasher guide we also mentioned the Midea WQP4-2605 with a tank.
Electricity: a regular outlet near the counter. Don’t plug it into the same power strip as a kettle, toaster oven or microwave, because the dishwasher’s heating element draws high power while heating. (Israel runs on 230V/50Hz; a 110V US dishwasher would need a transformer.)
First cycle: after hooking it up, run an empty cycle and check there are no drips at the tap connection or drain hose. Check again after a few days: a loose diverter connection is the common source of small leaks.
In a rental apartment: keep the tap’s original aerator so you can put it back when you leave. You don’t need permission for this change, but if in doubt, let the landlord know.
6 or 8 place settings: what actually fits?
6 place settings in a tabletop dishwasher are enough for a couple’s dishes for one day without large pots; 8 place settings add room for a small pot and a frying pan, and that’s the difference you feel every evening.
What is a place setting? A standard set for one diner: a dinner plate, a soup plate, a small plate, a glass, a cup and cutlery. In practice, a couple’s dinner with a salad, main course and dessert, plus glasses from the day, fills a 6-place-setting dishwasher.
What doesn’t fit in a tabletop dishwasher: large pots, rectangular baking trays, a large cutting board and serving trays. Those you’ll wash by hand. If you cook every day with several pots, even 8 place settings won’t be enough for everything, and a 10-place-setting slim dishwasher under the counter will suit you better.
Models by capacity:
- 3 place settings: Midea MDWMT030S. For one person, a student or an office.
- 6 place settings: Midea MDWTT0602F, Midea MDWT0602M, De’Longhi WMD10T. For a couple who cooks a little.
- 8 place settings: Electrolux EFC3862MS, Candy CP8F9FFW. For a couple who cooks at home.
How often will you run it? A couple with a 6-place-setting dishwasher will usually run it once a day. With 8 place settings, sometimes every other day, depending on cooking. A family of 3–4 will run a tabletop dishwasher twice a day and wash some by hand, so we wouldn’t recommend a tabletop dishwasher as a family’s only dishwasher.
Half load: the Midea MDWTT0602F and Candy CP8F9FFW have half load per the listings. It’s useful for one person who doesn’t fill the dishwasher, or when you want to run a few glasses quickly.
Programs you’ll actually use: Eco for everyday, Quick for glasses and lightly soiled plates, Intensive for pots, and Hygiene (72°C on the Electrolux EFC3862MS and Midea MDWMT030S) for baby bottles and cutting boards.
Noise, energy and hard water
A countertop dishwasher is noisier than it looks on paper, because it’s at ear level, and it uses relatively more electricity per item; you can manage both, but not eliminate them.
Noise: per the listings, the Midea MDWTT0602F ranges from 47 to 49 dB and the Midea MDWT0602M is 49 dB. For the other models, noise isn’t stated on the page. 49 dB in a dishwasher under the counter sounds muffled; on the counter, half a meter from your head, it’s clearly audible. Run it when you go out, at night when the kitchen is closed, or with delay start (up to 24 hours on some models).
Energy: rating D on the Electrolux EFC3862MS and Midea, and F on the Candy CP8F9FFW and De’Longhi WMD10T, per the pages. For the Electrolux EFC3862MS, consumption is listed as 58 kWh per 100 cycles, i.e. about 0.58 kWh per cycle. The money difference between D and F on a small dishwasher is usually tens of shekels a year, so it’s a secondary consideration.
Water: 6.5 liters per cycle on the 6-place-setting Midea and 8 liters on the 8-place-setting Candy, per the listings. That’s less than most people use washing the same amount by hand with the tap running.
Hard water and limescale: water in most areas of Israel is hard. In a tabletop dishwasher limescale builds up quickly, because the components are small. What to do:
- If there’s a salt compartment and softener, as on the De’Longhi WMD10T per one listing, fill salt and set the hardness level.
- If not, use tablets with softener and add rinse aid.
- Run a machine-cleaning program with a dedicated cleaner once a month. Some models, like the Electrolux EFC3862MS and Midea MDWT0602M, have such a program.
- Clean the filter at the bottom every week or two.
On a tank model: empty and clean the tank regularly, and don’t leave standing water in it for days. A bad smell in a small dishwasher usually comes from the filter or the tank.
How much does a countertop dishwasher cost in Israel?
A countertop dishwasher costs about ₪1,000–1,750 in Israel for 6-place-setting models, about ₪1,640–2,290 for 8-place-setting models, and about ₪1,180–1,850 for a mini dishwasher with a tank, based on store prices in November 2026.
What we saw on the comparison pages:
- Midea MDWTT0602F(W)-W-IL (6 place settings): about ₪1,000–1,740.
- Midea MDWT0602M(B)-W-IL (6 place settings, black): about ₪1,060–1,600.
- De’Longhi WMD10T (6 place settings, built-in softener): about ₪1,090–1,970.
- Midea MDWMT030S(W)-W-IL (3 place settings, tank): about ₪1,180–1,840.
- Electrolux EFC3862MS (8 place settings): about ₪1,640–1,890.
- Candy CP8F9FFW (8 place settings): about ₪1,860–2,290.
- On the category page we also saw the 6-place-setting Midea WQP63602F from about ₪1,050 and the 3-place-setting Midea WQP4-2605 from about ₪1,170.
Compared with a slim dishwasher: a freestanding 9–10 place-setting slim dishwasher starts at about ₪1,200–1,500. So the difference between a tabletop and a slim dishwasher is small, but the slim one needs a 45 cm cabinet. If you can free up a cabinet, also compare with our slim dishwasher guide.
What else goes in the budget:
- Tap diverter: usually comes with the dishwasher, but some taps need an adapter.
- Salt, rinse aid and tablets.
- Warranty extension: on a ₪1,000–1,500 dishwasher, consider whether it’s worth it to you.
Importer: per the listings, Midea’s official importer is Hamilton, and Electrolux’s is Mini Line. For Candy, De’Longhi and some Midea models, the listings say official importer without a name. Ask for the importer’s name and warranty terms before paying.
Gaps between stores: for the Midea MDWTT0602F we saw a difference of about ₪740 between the lowest and highest price, and for the De’Longhi WMD10T about ₪880. On a dishwasher costing about ₪1,000–1,500, that’s a difference of tens of percent. Before ordering, make sure the full code is identical, including the color suffix, and that the price includes delivery. Some Midea listings show several different codes for the same product, like MDWTT0602F(W)-W-IL and MDWTT0602F(W)-IL-W. Ask the seller whether it’s exactly the same model.
When to pay more: for 8 place settings instead of 6, if you cook at home. For automatic door opening, if dry dishes matter to you. For a known importer with service, because even in a small dishwasher a pump or heating element can fail.
Which countertop dishwasher to choose?
The best countertop dishwasher for a couple who cooks at home is an 8-place-setting model with a hygiene program and door opening for drying; for a couple who cooks little or a single person, a 6-place-setting model is enough, and where there’s no suitable tap, a mini dishwasher with a tank.
By profile:
- A couple who cooks at home: Electrolux EFC3862MS, 8 place settings.
- A couple or single person on a low budget: Midea MDWTT0602F, 6 place settings.
- You want good drying in a dark finish: Midea MDWT0602M.
- An area with very hard water: De’Longhi WMD10T with a built-in softener per one listing.
- You need 8 place settings and half load: Candy CP8F9FFW.
- Office, single person or no tap hookup: Midea MDWMT030S with a tank.
Checklist before buying:
- Have you measured width, depth and height under the upper cabinet?
- Can a diverter be fitted to the tap?
- Will the drain hose reach the sink?
- Is there a free outlet nearby, not shared with a kettle?
- Does the seller list the official importer and warranty terms?
Common mistakes:
- Buying a 6-place-setting dishwasher for a family of 4 and being disappointed.
- Placing the dishwasher under a wooden cabinet and opening the door straight into it.
- Not using salt or tablets with softener, and getting glasses with a white film after a month.
What about Shabbat? On the tabletop models we checked, Shabbat mode doesn’t appear in the specs. Using delay start on Shabbat is a halachic question, and we don’t rule on it.
In a particularly small kitchen, plan everything on the counter together: tabletop dishwasher, toaster oven and microwave. See also our baking oven and best microwave guides.
The bottom line
Typical width: About 55 cm. Capacity: 6–8 place settings (mini: 3).

As the only dishwasher for a family of 3–4, usually not: you’ll run it twice a day and wash some by hand. As a second dishwasher, for example for dairy, it works well.
