10 kg Washing Machine: Who It’s Worth It For and Which Models to Check (2026)
A 10 kg washing machine (22 lb of dry laundry) suits a family of 5 or more, anyone who washes duvets at home, or anyone who wants to do fewer loads a week. Based on store prices in November 2026, a 10 kg machine from a known brand with an official importer costs about ₪2,000–3,300 (NIS), and 12 kg machines start at about ₪2,000 from brands like Midea and reach about ₪4,250 for models with automatic dosing.
We did not physically test the machines. This guide is based on specs published by manufacturers and stores, price ranges we saw on Israeli price comparison pages and importers’ terms. Below: when 10 kg is really needed, how it differs from 12 kg, Bosch 10 kg models, dimensions, consumption and recommended models.
The short answer

Prices in Israel: Washing machines
10 kg from brands like Electra, Haier, basic Electrolux or a Midea 12 kg: you get capacity, give up some features and sometimes a wide service network.
10 kg from Bosch, LG and AEG with 1,400 RPM, steam and load sensing: the value sweet spot for a family of 5–6.
10–12 kg with 1,600 RPM, automatic dosing, Wi-Fi and AntiStain: for large families who wash every day and want to save time and detergent.
Price ranges seen in Israeli shops and price-comparison sites in November 2026, VAT included, usually without installation.
What to look at before buying
| What to check | What it is | Our recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Real capacity | Capacity is the weight of dry laundry on the cotton program. On synthetics and delicates programs, roughly half is allowed. | 10 kg for a family of 5–6. 11–12 kg only for families of 7 or more or anyone who washes double duvets, bath mats and bedding in volume. |
| Depth | 10 kg machines are usually deeper than 8 kg ones, and there are big differences between models. | Per store specs, the AEG LF61144BM is about 57.5 cm deep and the Electrolux EN6F3149FXM about 63 cm. Add 5–10 cm for the tap and hoses. |
| Spin speed | In a full 10 kg drum, a lot of water stays in the clothes, so spin matters more than in a small machine. | 1,400 RPM as a minimum. If you have a dryer, 1,600 RPM (like the Bosch WGG256Z9IL) shortens drying time. |
| Load sensing | Sensors that weigh the laundry and adjust water, time and electricity (ProSense, AI DD, ActiveWater Plus). | A must on a large machine, because most loads will be partial. Without it you pay for the water and electricity of a full drum. |
| Label consumption | On the new European label, consumption is shown in kWh per 100 cycles on the Eco 40-60 program. | An efficient 10 kg machine uses about 51 kWh per 100 cycles per the specs (AEG LF61144BM, Electra EL1015BL). Compare the number, not just the letter. |
| Noise and balance | A large drum with one heavy item (a duvet) struggles to balance during the spin and may shake. | Look for AntiVibration or Auto Balance, and a machine whose spin noise is up to about 76 dB if it’s near bedrooms. |
| Importer and warranty | An official importer (yevuan rasmi) provides technician service and a warranty per certificate; some brands have a long motor warranty. | With Bosch, look for the IL suffix and a BSH warranty. With LG, ask for the importer’s name (Brimag) on the invoice. With smaller brands, check who provides service in your area. |
Who is a 10 kg washing machine for?
A 10 kg washing machine suits a family of 5 or more, anyone who washes double duvets at home, and anyone who prefers two large loads to four small ones.
10 kg is the weight of dry laundry on the cotton program. In practice, a family with children’s daily wash weighs 4–6 kg, and a weekend load of towels and bedding can reach 8–10 kg. In an 8 kg machine that means splitting into two cycles; in 10 kg it fits in one cycle, with enough room for the clothes to move and wash well.
When 10 kg isn’t needed:
- A couple or a family of 3: an 8 kg washing machine is enough, and it’s cheaper and shallower.
- An apartment with a niche shallower than 55 cm: most 10 kg machines simply won’t fit.
- Someone who washes a small amount every day: they’ll pay for a drum that’s half empty most of the time.
When 10 kg is the right choice:
- 5 or more people, especially with small children or sportswear.
- Washing duvets, pillows and bath mats at home instead of at a laundromat.
- A home where everyone works, and laundry is concentrated on one or two days a week.
- A growing family: a machine lasts many years, and it’s better to buy the size you’ll need in three years.
Based on store prices in November 2026, the difference between 9 and 10 kg in the same series is usually ₪200–400. So if you’re torn between the two sizes and have room in the niche, in most cases you’ll prefer the 10. The full comparison of 8, 9 and 10 kg is in our 8 kg washing machine guide, and general recommendations for choosing a machine are in our best washing machine guide.
One point that’s easy to miss: the capacity on the sticker refers to the cotton program only. On a synthetics or delicates program, the allowed capacity is roughly half, and on a 15-minute quick program sometimes only 2–3 kg. So a 10 kg machine gives real headroom even on programs where a small machine is already very limited. That’s one of the differences you feel day to day more than the number itself.
10, 11 or 12 kg: the difference in practice and price
For 5–6 people, 10 kg is enough; 11–12 kg is justified only for a family of 7 or more or when you wash a lot of large items.
Per price comparison pages in November 2026, Israel has about 100 models of 10 kg, about 20 of 11 kg and about 17 of 12 kg. The 12 kg supply is limited, with Midea, Haier, LG and Electrolux standing out. The price ranges we saw:
- 10 kg: about ₪1,650–3,300 for most models, and up to about ₪4,900 for premium (e.g. the AEG LF85066QM with 1,600 RPM and AutoDose).
- 11 kg: about ₪2,150–3,300, e.g. the Samsung WW11CGC04DAEKJ from about ₪2,170.
- 12 kg: about ₪1,980–3,000 for basic models (Midea MF200W120W, Haier HW120B14979S8), and about ₪3,600–4,250 for models with automatic dosing (Electrolux EWF1242R9SC).
What do you get for 2 more kg? A bigger drum, so a thick double duvet fits without stuffing, and you can wash bedding for two beds in one cycle. What you pay: a heavier, deeper machine, higher consumption for a full cycle, and on some models no slim version at all.
The practical rule: if you’re torn between 10 and 12 kg because you wash duvets once a month, 10 kg with a duvet program will be enough. If every week you have 3–4 full 10 kg loads, 12 kg will save a cycle or two a week.
Also check the door width. On 12 kg the opening is usually wider, which makes loading duvets easier. Per the specs, on the 10 kg Electrolux (EN6F3149FXM) the opening is 34 cm, compared with about 30–32 cm on regular 8–9 kg machines.
There are also 13 and 18 kg. The 13 kg LG WF13314WBC appears in our LG washing machine guide, and the 18 kg Samsung WD18DB8995BZ is actually a washer-dryer combo priced at about ₪7,500 and up. These are solutions for very large families, not a natural upgrade from a 9 kg machine.
And if you’re still unsure, think about the weekend: how many full loads you run on Friday, and how many of them are towels and bedding. If the answer is three or more, 12 kg will save you real time.
Bosch 10 kg: which models exist and how they differ
Bosch has about 30 models of 10 kg on Israeli comparison pages, but most buyers only need to know three: the WGG25402IL, WGG256Z9IL and WGB256A0IL.
Per the specs and prices we saw:
- Bosch WGG25402IL: Series 6, 1,400 RPM, AntiStain, Iron Assist and SuperQuick 15. About ₪2,470–3,990.
- Bosch WGG256Z9IL: Series 6, up to 1,600 RPM and a drum of about 70 liters. About ₪2,820–3,940. Especially suited to anyone who uses a dryer.
- Bosch WGB256A0IL: Series 8, 1,600 RPM, starting at about ₪4,000.
There are also models with suffixes like GB or PL (e.g. WGG25402GB and WGG2540KPL). These are usually versions for other markets sold as parallel imports (yevu makbil), in which case the warranty is the seller’s, not BSH’s. The rule we saw on Bosch pages: the IL suffix is the official importer’s model.
If you’re looking for a Bosch 10 kg, the main question is 1,400 or 1,600 RPM. Without a dryer, 1,400 is entirely enough and the saving is a few hundred shekels. With a dryer, 1,600 RPM leaves less water in the clothes and shortens every drying cycle. All Bosch series, the differences between them and warranty terms are detailed in our Bosch washing machine guide.
It’s worth knowing that Siemens, imported by the same BSH, also sells 10 kg machines on the same platform (e.g. the Siemens WG54G2Z9IL, from about ₪2,700 per the comparison page). If the Siemens price is lower that week, it’s an alternative worth checking, provided it also lists the official importer’s warranty.
Another distinction: on Bosch comparison pages, some sellers write a 10-year warranty. When you check the details, it usually refers to the motor only, not the whole machine. Ask for the warranty certificate before paying and check exactly what’s covered in the first year and after.
Dimensions, weight and delivery: a big machine needs a big niche
The width and height of a 10 kg machine are almost always 60 by 85 cm (about 24 by 33.5 in), but depth ranges from about 57 to 64 cm, so you must measure the niche before ordering.
Per the specs shown in stores:
- AEG LF61144BM: about 60×85×57.5 cm.
- Electra EL100386: about 60×84.7×57.7 cm, 65 kg.
- Electra EL1015BL: about 59.5×85×56.5 cm.
- Electrolux EN6F3149FXM: about 60×85×63.1 cm.
The 6–7 cm difference in depth is exactly what decides whether the machine’s door sticks out past the counter or blocks a passage. In small bathrooms and laundry porches (mirpeset sherut), it’s the difference between a machine that fits and one you have to return.
How to measure correctly:
- Measure from the wall to the front edge of the counter or door frame.
- Add 5–10 cm at the back for the tap, drain hose and power cable.
- Check there’s room to open the door fully and take out laundry without bending against a wall.
- Also measure the route: the front door, the elevator, the stairwell and the balcony opening.
Weight: 10–12 kg machines weigh about 65–80 kg (143–176 lb). In apartments on high floors without an elevator, ask the store whether delivery includes floors and what the surcharge is. At most stores we saw, delivery itself is free and lead time is 3–14 business days, but carrying up stairs is sometimes extra.
And don’t forget the transit bolts. On a heavy machine with a large drum, a first run without removing them causes strong shaking and can damage the drum. After installation, adjust the feet with a spirit level, because a large machine standing crooked will shake and move during the spin.
If you don’t have the required depth, there are two alternatives: a 9 kg slim machine (like the LG WFS9014WW, about 47.5 cm deep), or a 40 cm-wide top-loading washing machine, usually limited to 6–7 kg.
One more check before ordering: the tap and drain. A large machine fills more water at each stage, and low water pressure in older apartments lengthens the program. Make sure the tap opens fully, the drain hose doesn’t bend behind the machine and it’s connected at the height shown in the manual. If the machine stands on an open laundry porch, protect it from rain and direct sun, because the control panel and seals are sensitive to radiation and heat.
Electricity and water use in a large drum
A 10 kg machine uses more per full cycle, but less per kilo of laundry, so it’s economical only if you fill it or it has automatic load sensing.
Per the figures stores publish:
- AEG LF61144BM: about 51 kWh per 100 cycles; a full 10 kg Eco 40-60 cycle about 0.86 kWh and 69 liters.
- Electra EL1015BL: about 51 kWh per 100 cycles (0.513 kWh per weighted cycle), about 53 liters on average and 68 liters at full load.
- Electra EL100386: about 51 liters per weighted cycle.
On an annual basis: a family running 5 Eco cycles a week on a machine of about 51 kWh per 100 cycles uses about 130 kWh a year. That’s a difference of tens of shekels a year at most between an efficient and a less efficient machine. What matters much more: washing at 30–40°C instead of 60, and using the drum fully.
Why does load sensing matter here in particular? In a family of 5, most midweek loads are 3–5 kg. A machine that doesn’t weigh the load fills water according to a fixed program. A machine with ProSense (AEG), AI DD (LG), ActiveWater Plus (Bosch) or SensiCare (Electrolux) shortens the program and reduces water when the drum is half empty.
On the energy label: Israel moved to the European label from September 1, 2022, with a transition period in which old and new ratings appear side by side. So you’ll see models with “A (previous rating)” and others with “A (new standard)”. An A under the new system is harder to achieve. Always compare kWh per 100 cycles and liters per cycle. The full explanation of the label is in our best washing machine guide.
With hard water, as in most areas of Israel, a large machine heats more water on every hot cycle and so builds up limescale faster. Run a drum-clean program once a month, and clean the pump filter every month or two. Our washing machine cleaning guide details the manufacturers’ instructions.
10 kg and a dryer, or a washer-dryer combo?
If there’s room for two appliances, a 10 kg machine and a separate dryer dry faster and in larger quantities than any combo.
A combo washes 10–12 kg but usually dries only 6–7 kg, meaning a large load has to be split into two drying cycles. For example, the Electra EL100188 is listed as 10 kg wash and 7 kg dry, and the Electrolux EWW1242R9MC as 12 kg wash and 9 kg dry, at about ₪5,200 and up. The full comparison is in our washer-dryer combo guide.
If you go with two appliances:
- Match the dryer’s capacity: for a 10 kg machine a 9 kg dryer is better. An 8 kg dryer will sometimes require splitting a full load.
- Prefer a spin of 1,400–1,600 RPM: every 200 RPM removes water from the clothes and shortens drying.
- Check for a stacking kit: an 85 cm washer and dryer together reach about 1.75 m (5 ft 9 in).
- Electricity: a washing machine draws about 2,000 W while heating (per the specs of the Electra EL100386 and EL1015BL), and a condenser dryer about 2,800 W. Together they exceed a 16-amp circuit (Israel runs on 230V). A heat pump dryer uses about 600 W, and with it there’s no problem.
The differences between dryer types are explained in our best clothes dryer and condenser dryer guides. If you lean toward Bosch for the dryer too, see our Bosch dryer guide.
In the Israeli winter, a family of 5 with a 10 kg machine and no dryer will quickly discover that the problem isn’t washing but drying. If there’s no room for a dryer, at least choose a spin of 1,400 RPM or more, so laundry dries faster on the line.
Importer, warranty and deals on large machines
On a 10–12 kg machine it’s especially worth buying with an official importer’s warranty, because a fault in a heavy machine always requires a technician at home.
What we saw on product pages in November 2026:
- Bosch: a BSH warranty on models with the IL suffix, and some sellers mention a long motor warranty.
- LG: one seller lists Brimag, and terms of one year plus 9 years on the motor, or 5 years, vary between stores.
- Midea: one seller lists Hamilton and a 3-year warranty.
- Haier: one seller lists Newpan.
- Electra: per the product page at Payngo (an Israeli electronics chain), machines of 10 kg and up get a 1+4 year warranty at no extra cost, subject to registration within 14 days, in a promotion until December 31, 2026. On smaller models the extended warranty costs ₪199.
With AEG and Electrolux machines, the importer’s name doesn’t always appear explicitly; one seller lists “Mini Line”. We didn’t verify this with the importer itself, so ask for the warranty provider’s name on the invoice.
How to read a deal on a large machine: a 10 kg machine price that looks ₪500 lower than the rest is sometimes a parallel import, a display model or a refurbished machine. On comparison pages we saw offers marked “refurbished / surplus / display”. That’s not necessarily bad, but the warranty is different. Sale prices and good-value purchases in general are explained in our cheap washing machine guide.
Before paying, ask three questions: who provides the warranty and for how long, whether there’s a separate motor warranty, and whether installation or registration is required for the extended warranty to apply.
The bottom line
Suits: 5 or more people, or washing duvets at home. Reasonable budget: ₪2,000–3,300 (10 kg).

FAQ: 10 kg washing machine Israel
Is a 10 kg washing machine suitable for a family of 4?
It will work very well, but in most cases 9 kg is enough for a family of 4. 10 kg is worth the difference (about ₪200–400) if you wash duvets at home, plan to grow the family or prefer washing twice a week instead of every day.
How much does a 10 kg washing machine cost in Israel?
Based on store prices in November 2026, a 10 kg machine from a known brand costs about ₪2,000–3,300, and cheap models from Electra, Haier and Electrolux start at about ₪1,650–2,000. Premium models with 1,600 RPM and automatic dosing reach ₪4,000–4,900.
What’s the difference between a 10 kg and a 12 kg washing machine?
12 kg gives a bigger drum for duvets and families of 7 or more, but the supply is limited (about 17 models) and the machines are heavier and deeper. A basic 12 kg machine like the Midea MF200W120W starts at about ₪2,000, and with automatic dosing about ₪3,600.
Which Bosch 10 kg washing machine should I buy?
The Bosch WGG25402IL with 1,400 RPM suits anyone who line-dries, and the WGG256Z9IL with up to 1,600 RPM anyone who pairs it with a dryer. Prefer models with the IL suffix, which per sellers come with a BSH warranty.
How deep is a 10 kg washing machine?
Per store specs, most models are about 56–58 cm deep (e.g. the AEG LF61144BM about 57.5 cm), and some reach about 63 cm (Electrolux EN6F3149FXM). Add 5–10 cm for the tap and hoses.
Does a 10 kg washing machine use a lot of electricity?
For a full cycle slightly more than a small machine, but per kilo of laundry similar or less. An efficient 10 kg machine uses about 51 kWh per 100 cycles per the specs, i.e. about 130 kWh a year for a family running 5 cycles a week.
Does a double duvet fit in a 10 kg machine?
In most cases yes, with room to move. Use a duvet program if available, and add a few towels to balance the drum during the spin. Especially thick duvets are easier in 12 kg.
Is an 11 kg washing machine worth it?
11 kg is a compromise between 10 and 12, and the supply is small (about 20 models). The Samsung WW11CGC04DAEKJ, for example, starts at about ₪2,170 per store prices. If the price is close to a 10 kg machine you’re considering and there’s room in the niche, there’s no reason to pass.
Is a 10 kg machine noisier?
Not necessarily. Noise depends more on the motor and balance than on capacity. Per the specs, the Electra EL100386 states 62 dB washing and 76 spinning, and the Electrolux EN6F3149FXM 53 dB washing. An unlevelled machine will be noisier than any spec.
